Management Changes at Islands
We are delighted to welcome Sam Phillips to the Islands team as our new Lodge General Manager. Sam gained extensive experience over the last two years managing Wasa and Luwombwa Lodges, campsites and supervising Shoebill Island Lodge for the Kasanka Trust. Sam is very much a people person with a hands on approach and fits our Islands philosophy perfectly. Sam’s appointment allows Ryan Dhana (who has been running the lodge since September) to increase focus on operations and assist with marketing.
Sadly we will be saying goodbye to Bonnie Wilde at the end of February. Bonnie has been involved in the lodge from its inception – and I know she will be sorely missed by the Islands Team and our agents. The Islands reservations office will be moving to the lodge at the end of February and all bookings will be handled by Kolo Ngenda, who joined us late last year at the lodge and has proved to be an invaluable asset, not only in the office but also with our guests. Kolo worked in the Reservations Department at Wilderness previously and has good experience in this field. We know you will be in safe hands. She is currently working with Bonnie to ensure a seamless handover. Contact Details will remain the same (email – firstname.lastname@example.org and Cellphone: +260 977720530) but please note that the Landline Number will no longer be operational.
The Islands of Siankaba was lucky to have Frank Willems from the Kasanka Trust to train our team of guides earlier on this month. Frank is undoubtedly one of the leading bird experts in Zambia and our guides benefited greatly from his training. Over twenty new bird species were added to the Islands of Siankaba bird list and the training was enjoyed by all. A great couple of days – many thanks Frank we hope to see you again soon.
