Wedding Ceremony …..Siankaba style!!!!

We were privileged enough to host a wedding for a couple from the UK last month. Our local community were great and really made the happy couples day extra special. They exchanged vows in the nearby village church and were transported to and from the venue in true African style…..Ox Cart and dug out canoe!

Greenpop Trees

Facebook Photo Competition

Siankaba launches new canoe trail

We are delighted to announce that we have joined forces with two other lodges downstream from Siankaba and are offering a three day canoe trail.

This allows our guests to follow in the footsteps of David Livingstone when he first witnessed the wonder of Victoria Falls. Guests spend the first night at Islands of Siankaba, then canoe down to The River Club to spend their second night there and then the next day canoe down to Victoria Falls to view them from “Livingstone Island”. The final night is spent at Stanley Safari Lodge before guests fly home. The trips run from 1st July until the 1st February.

Siankaba Staff receive Customer Service Awards

Some of our staff were slected for customer service awards at the recent Labour Day celebrations – they were given their awards by the district commissioner. Our congratulations go to Gerard, Brighton, Jackson, Lubasi, Shadreck and Joseph.

KLM Now Flying to Zambia

KLM will serve Lusaka three times a week using an Airbus A330-200. The aircraft has space for 243 passengers, 30 in World Business Class and 213 in Economy Class.
Starting 15 May 2012, flight KL561 will depart from Schiphol on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 12:30 hrs, arriving in Lusaka the same day at 22:10 hrs. The return flight, KL562, will depart Lusaka at 23:55 hrs on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights and arrive in Amsterdam at 09:55 hrs the next morning.

Installation of Borehole Pump at Siankaba Village

Recently we purchased and installed a borehole hand pump for Siankaba village. This means that the ladies in the village no longer have to draw water from the river and so avoid the possibility of crocodile attack. The pump is proving to be very popluar. It is wonderful to give something as useful as this back to our supportive community.

School Trip to the Falls

The lodge recently arranged to take a number of children from the Siankaba Nursery School and the Mandia Basic School for a trip to the Victoria Falls. It is amazing to think that most of the children in the Siankaba community have never seen the falls even though they are less than 40 kms away! Our driver/guide Sydney Phiri and guide Victor Sikushaba took the children on a guided tour of the falls. It was the absolute highlight of many of their lives!
